Students have access to books and DVDS in our libraries as well as electronic resources (e-resources), these include e-books, journal articles, databases and more. To access these resources you will need your student IT account username and password.
Log in to your library account above, to see what items you've borrowed. (Off-campus access requires Global Protect VPN)
We’ve got over 200,000 books and DVDs across our libraries. Use the self-issue machines to borrow an item, these are situated close to our help desks in all our libraries.
You can also check what books you have out on your account via the self-issue machines.
Search the library catalogue to find the resources you need. When you click on the link to access an item you will be asked to sign in with your LSBU username and password. You can get general help with finding and accessing resources at our help desks or online. For more advanced help and guidance, see your library subject guide or contact our team of professional librarians - see contact details on your subject guide.
If a book that you wish to borrow is unavailable, a 'hold' will reserve a copy for you when one is returned to the library.
To place a hold yourself online:
Go to the library catalogue search page and login at the top right hand corner. If you don't login, you will not be able to place the hold.
Search for the item you want and under Get It, select Request to place a hold on the next returned copy. This is only possible for items where all copies which can be borrowed are already out on loan.
NB - we recommend that you do this from a campus PC where you are logged in or from your own device - don't use the self-service catalogue PCs around the library as you may find you cannot logout easily.
Visit one of our library help desks if you need any assistance with placing a hold on a book.
We’ll email you when a copy is ready for you to collect. Holds are collected from the holds shelf located close to the library help desk.
