Introduction

Worried about your coursework? Not sure where to start? Feeling a bit overwhelmed by academic life at LSBU and not sure who to talk to? Why not come and chat it through with a PAL!

Our Peer Assisted Learning Support Team (PALS) are students, just like you, and are here to lend an ear, point you in the right direction, and help you get started within the academic space. Our PALs work as part of a team offering a drop-in academic support service for their fellow students on a regular basis. You'll find them based at the Study Skills Hub, just inside the Library on Level 3 between 10 and 7 during the week and between 10 and 12 on a Saturday morning. Come and talk to them about a specific academic issue or ask them to signpost you to the right place for help with your query.

Get to know the PALs working within your College and look out for the regular informal and collaborative study support sessions that they will be running across the year. These are designed to help their fellow students navigate university-level study and succeed in their academic achievements.

You will also see the PALs on or around the campus helping the Skills for Success Team to highlight the resources and support services available to help you with your studies and attain the transferable skills that employers value! Their role is to assist in providing support to all undergraduate students, helping them to adapt to academic life and study at LSBU in an informal and relaxed space.

Support

Our PALs offer a regular drop-in support service in the Study Skills Hub just inside the Library on Level 3 of the Hub on the Southwark Campus. They will also make regular visits to our Havering and Croydon campuses.

Details of our timetable are available on the Skills Events calendar [link] - select the 'PALS' category or look for the Peer Assisted Learner pop-up sessions.

Getting in touch!

The PAL service has been created with you in mind. We are always keen to receive suggestions about areas you would like us to cover in our College or School sessions.

If you have a suggestion for a topic you would like to cover or if there is something that is bothering you which you would like the PALs to address in a session, please contact us [link] and we will do our best to pull something together to support you.
