Your LSBU username and password give you access to the following accounts and resources. Note: There may be a 24hr delay following enrolment before access to the Library and the Moodle VLE are activated.

Please remember to keep your password secure - do not share it with friends or family. These resources are for your use only.

My LSBU - Student Portal

Find information about studying at LSBU and about university life. Explore the portal and discover the services provided by the Student Life Centre, how to get help with your studies and what social activities are on offer.

Moodle - Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

You will find all your course based information on Moodle. Academics will post notes, videos and resources and links to lecture and classes which are held in Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams

Connect with your academics and your class mates via Teams. All online lectures and classes will take place on Teams and you can use it for group work and discussions.

 

Student Email Account

All university correspondence should go through your LSBU email account. Make sure to check it regularly for important updates from academic staff as well as other university news and information. Get it on your phone or mobile device.

Timetable

Find out when and where your lectures and classes are taking place. You can add your timetable to the calendar on your mobile device, just follow the instructions on our help sheet.

Library Account

Access your library account to see what books you have borrowed.  If one of the items you have on loan has been recalled, you can check due dates here too.

Office 365+

Download Microsoft Office 365+ to your personal computer and mobile devices. Access fully licenced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to use while you are a student.

Printing

Multi-Function Devices (MFDs) are available throughout the campus. These allow you to print, scan or photocopy. There is a charge for printing and photocopying. We also have 2 large format printers in the Perry Library for printing engineering and architecture designs or posters for nursing students.

Downloadable Software

While you are an LSBU student you get selected licensed software for free. These software packages can be download to your own suitable devices for the duration of your studies.

OneDrive

Store your files and personal data in the cloud. Share your files across your desktop, laptop and mobile devices. Access your files from anywhere. All LSBU students have 1 TB or storage space.

Assistive Software

Assistive software available on campus pcs

  •  Dragon logoDragon Speech Recognition is available in each Assistive Technology Room (ATR).
  •  Supernova is available in ATR 1 on Level 3 East.  Jaws is available in ATR 2 on Level 3 East.
  •  MindManager, ClaroRead Plus and other standard LSBU software is available in every room.

Mind mapping package with many uses; planning assignments and projects, exam preparation, collaborative working.
Available to download and use on your own PC or laptop.

Free Productivity/Accessiblity tools

Looking for more accessibility tools on your PC? 

There are a number of external free apps, add-ons and resources online that can help you study and aid your productivity.*

*Please note these are just suggestions and are not applications supported by either Student IT Support or IT Services .

They can help to:

  • customise personal devices  
  • increase accessibility and functionality
  • Change the appearance, colour and size of text and images on screen
  • Improve concentration
  • use tools on your phone or iPad such as the camera, to screen read or interpret the environment around you.

Google Chrome Logo

Google offers a number of free Chrome add-ons that help you get organised, view your device how you want it. There are apps that can help you speed read such as Spreed

 

AppleVis logo

Applevis is a community powered website for blind and low vision users of apple products. As well as directing users to a range of apps it offers resources and mechanisms for raising awareness of the accessibility of Apple products and related applications, and for promoting further advancement in accessibility.

 

 My Computer My Way offers a variety of ways that you can alter your devices settings to increase their  accessibility and functionality.

 

Audacity Headphones Logo  Audacity is free open source software that allows you to record and edit audio files.

 

noises online logo Some people can find listening to white, pink or brown noise can help them to mask external distractions and concentrate. This app provides a range of different sounds including rainfall, birdsong, cafe chatter as well as pink, brown and white noise generators.

 

 The RNIB is a charity that helps support people with sight loss they have an excellent beginners guide to using assistive technology for those with visual impairments

 

Action on hearing loss provides support for people with hearing loss they have an extensive list of apps that can help you navigate the environment around you. Braci can record sounds in your environment and gives alerts on your smart phone when it recognises them. Let me hear again, can convert speech to text and text to speech.

Windows Accessibility Options

Alter Accessibility Options on your Windows PCWindows Logo

Find the Ease of Access Centre in Settings Settings cog icon in Windows 10.

This has all the tools you need to magnify all or part of the screen, try different colour filters or high-contrast schemes and use Windows Narrator to have things read out to you.
