Our organisational structure


Group Director of Library and Learning Resources

Customer Services

In charge of this service are:

Alan Doherty (LSCS Head of Customer Service)

Sheila Graham (Student IT Support and Library Manager)

Michael Swire (Student Life Centre Manager)

Our Customer Services team are responsible for

  • Maintaining and improving the learning spaces and equipment across our libraries
  • Providing help and support to students with Library services, Student IT Support issues, course enquiries and Student Life enquiries, including fees, finance, accommodation and DDS queries.  We offer face to face support at our library help desks, as well as live-chat, telephone and online support.
  • Managing the Library and Learning Resources websites and guides and providing library services such as interlibrary loans and additional help for DDS registered and part-time students.

Southwark campus

You can find the library in the LSBU Hub building level 02 and level 03. The Student Life Centre is situated on Borough Road.

Croydon campus

Our team at Croydon Student Centre/Library is headed by the Nicole Prentice, the Croydon Campus Service Co-ordinator. 

You'll find them, along with our IT and library facilities on the ground floor at our Electric House campus.

Havering campus

Our team at Havering Campus Library/Student Centre is headed by Ross Butler (Havering Campus Service Co-ordinator).

They can be found, along with our IT and library facilities on the ground floor towards the back of the building at our Havering Campus.

Skills for Success

In Charge of this service are:

Our Skills for Success teams provide the following services:

Information skills

  • Guidance in finding and using information for your assignments
  • Help with referencing
  • Assistance with using our electronic resources and databases

Digital skills

  • Help with improving your digital knowledge and skills
  • Software workshops on Microsoft Office and other packages
  • Microsoft Office Specialist qualifications

Academic Skills

  • Help with english and academic writing skills

Maths and Statistics

  • Help with maths and statistical skills

Support is provided via drop-in sessions, bookable workshops or 1-2-1 appointments.

We offer both:

  • in person at our Southwark, Croydon, and Havering campuses
  • online via Microsoft Teams

Information Resources Management

In charge of this service are:

Stephen Grace (Head of Library Systems and Content Delivery)

Adnan Adil (Team Manager – Systems, Subscriptions and Licensing)

Terry Hughes (Team Leader - Acquisitions and Fulfilment)

Ruth MacLeod (Data Curator and Archivist)

Our Information Resources Management Team provides the following services:

  • Buying our physical books, e-books, electronic journals, and our other electronic resources and making these available and maintaining them on our library systems
  • Creating and maintaining the university’s student reading list system
  • Administering and improving the library management system, which controls our catalogue, e-resource access, and borrowing/returning systems
  • Maintaining the LSBU institutional archives and providing research data management support to staff and students
  • Managing LSBU Open Research, the university’s institutional repository, support for scholarly communications and Open Access

Business Support

Nick Wood (Business Support Manager)

Responsible for the forecasting, expenditure and procurement made by the department.
