• Jobs.ac.uk: Some clear and sensible advice for applicants
• University of Manchester: A nice summary of their general guidelines for applicants. (As always, these are guidelines for applicants to Manchester only, but they give you a good idea of requirements at this level.) 
• LSBU: Some universities use UCAS, a slightly different way of applying for a doctoral course.
