Skills for Success / Academic Skills / The Basic Steps in Doing an Assignment
TIP: At this point you should probably check the original assignment question to make sure you have not forgotten exactly what you should be doing.
Now that you have read, made notes, and interpreted some relevant texts, you should be able to identify the key points that have emerged.
Look back at your notes and notice if there are repeated themes, ideas, or terms that appear in different sources that you have read. These are probably important concepts for your topic. In your assignment, show that you have noticed these things and, if appropriate, discuss and use them in your work.
Also, look back at your thesis statement. Ask yourself if you have found everything you need to make your point. Do you need to change your thesis statement?
Start thinking about how you are going to organise your answer.
