Skills for Success / Academic Skills / The Basic Steps in Doing an Assignment
You will get feedback after your work has been assessed by your tutor. They will give you constructive advice.
Don't only look at the grade - read the comments.
Don't feel lucky if you get a high mark, or unlucky if you get a low mark. It's not about luck. Use feedback as a guide to what you should be working on to reach your potential.
1. The Right Attitude
Feedback is constructive and intended to show you where you can develop. Your tutor is helping you.
2. Reflection
Take some time to think about the comments you get.
3. Asking Questions
If anything is not clear, ask.
4. Be Proactive
Take action. Once you understand the feedback, decide what you need to do.
5. Cycle of Improvement
After applying any changes, get further feedback to make sure you are going in the right direction.
