We ran our own Library and Learning Resources (LLR) Macmillan Coffee Morning recently to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event was designed to promote awareness of the fantastic work the charity does throughout the year, and it was a great opportunity to show our support.
Andrea Milns who organised the event with a team of helpers, particularly wanted to run the event this year, in memory of a friend, who was a former LSBU library staff member, who died of cancer earlier this year, aged just 56.
Andrea says – “My friend Lourdes told me about LSBU and her happy memories of working in the library and then studying at LSBU and being involved in the Alumni Association. She encouraged me to come to work at LSBU. Lourdes was passionate about LSBU, and I wanted to honour her memory by supporting Macmillan Cancer Support as they helped her when she needed support.”
Macmillian Cancer Support is a fantastic charity that supports people living with cancer and their families and friends.
Thank you to all students and staff who supported the event by donating food, their time, or bought sweet treats or samosas.
We raised over £280 which is fantastic! This will go a long way in helping the charity continue to offer its life-saving support.
