Happy Open Access Week, and welcome to our new repository, LSBU Open Research! This is a showcase of the internationally recognised and world-leading research generated by our staff and students. Everything on here is open and free to access to everyone (not including those items under embargo). Use the search boxes to find an author, a subject, or just have a browse of our Latest Additions.
How does my work appear on LSBU Open Research, I hear you ask? There are two ways of doing this, but the easiest way is through Haplo, which you may already be familiar with. Go to https://research.lsbu.ac.uk, and log in with your usual username and password. Click “My Research Outputs” on the right hand side of the screen, and the “Add Output”. Choose your output type, then fill in as much of the form and add your accepted manuscript. Click “Save” at the top of the page, and the “Deposit” once you’re happy with it.
This will trigger an email to us, the Open Access Team, who will check the licence terms, embargo periods and that you’ve added the correct version. You will receive an email and a notification in the task bar at the top of the page if you need to give us any further information.
We will then deposit it for you, and it will be live on the repository. Simple as that.
We welcome all and any types of research, from journal articles and conference proceedings, to exhibitions and performances, podcasts and data.
You can also check which research outputs of yours are available through the Haplo portal – click on the “My Research Outputs” button on the home page to see a list of all the full text deposits you will have made. If you think there are items that aren’t there that should be, email openaccess@lsbu.ac.uk, and we will check for you. LSBU Open Research is a full text repository, and as such, only full text items will be displayed (except in special circumstances).
Don’t forget: you must deposit your accepted manuscripts within three months of the acceptance date to be eligible for the REF. Act on acceptance – don’t delay! If in doubt, email openaccess@lsbu.ac.uk.
If you’d like a guided tour of Haplo, a Symplectic refresher, or some Open Access questions answered, we are available for one to one sessions at your desk, as well as our monthly Open Access Drop in sessions, which are held in the Perry Library on the last Thursday of the month. Book a place on MyWorkplace, or email openaccess@lsbu.ac.uk to make an appointment.
