Refworks, how-to guide

Editing references in RefWorks

You may need to edit the references that you import into RefWorks. Make sure to check your referencing guide for possible mistakes. You can also look at the references in citation view, which highlights possible missing information.

Deleting references in RefWorks:

Deleting references in RefWorks is easy. You merely have to tick the boxes next to the references you want to delete and then click on the paper basket symbol at the top of the page. You can still retrieve deleted references if needed. They will be automatically stored in RefWork's 'Deleted' folder, which can be found in the menu on the left-hand side of the page.

You can amend the details of a reference by clicking on the reference, which will bring up a side panel on the right hand side where you can click on the pen icon, which lets you amend the reference details. After amending the reference, don’t forget to save it.

Adding tags

Using Tags

You can use tags to describe your references further by content. Imported references will automatically be tagged when they are imported and you can see these tags underneath the title of each reference. You can assign further tags to a selected reference by clicking on the tag symbol at the top of the screen and then either assign it to an already existing tag on the drop-down list or create (a) new one(s).
