Try not to use direct quotations

Put things into your own words. Only use quotations when it is necessary. This helps your “voice” to come across (see the previous point).

How does this show critical thinking?

Instead of quoting directly, put a summary or paraphrase in your own words. This shows that you have understood the source. It also lets you show your position and helps you to make your argument.
