What is transitional learning?
As you progress through your studies, you will be set tasks that require you to find, evaluate, analyse and discuss information in increasingly complex ways. The Information Skills Librarians and the Digital Skills Trainers support your academic development in each year of your course by teaching you skills and practices as you need them throughout your learning journey.
Sometimes the step up to learn more advanced skills can seem daunting; transition learning helps to lessen the gap and allows you to take smaller steps to improve your research knowledge and increase your confidence.
These transition materials are designed to:
- re-fresh library, digital and study-related skills you learnt during the first and/or second years of your course
- provide you with some additional knowledge appropriate to your course level that will help you with assignments and life after uni, in the world of work
- prepare you for the skills and standards that you will need to learn in the year ahead to take on new challenges such as dissertations.
