An introductory user guide for Lexis+

Running a Search

You can run a search across the whole of Lexis+ platform by entering search terms in the 'Search All' field which will combine results from across both Legal Research and Practical Guidance resources.

As you start to type a search term, the platform will offer you suggestions which you can select if you wish (Figure 1). Once you have entered your search terms, click the magnifying glass icon to run the search.

You will then be presented with the results page (Figure 2), on the left of which are the options for filtering your results. This lists the content types and the number of hits of each content type retrieved from the search, e.g. 'Legislation', 'Cases', 'Practical Guidance' etc. To drill down into each of these content types, click on them and you will see the sub content types. In the case of 'Legislation', this includes 'Acts', 'EU Legislation' etc.

If you wish to filter the results further, there is also an option to 'Search within results', amend the timeline to filter the date range of the results, filter by 'Practice Areas & Topics' or by 'Sources'.
