Staff guide to Reading Lists Online

Add new items to your reading list:

1. Login to Reading List Online and search for your module's list.

2. Click and select Search the Library. This will search across all LSBU resources and include titles from external sources, such as new publications and editions not in stock.

3. Enter your search criteria (e.g. name of the book, article title, ISBN). To find a specific title, enter its ISBN in the search box to locate the exact book.

4. From the search results, move your mouse to the item you want to add and clickto add it to the relevant section of your list (e.g. Week 3). You can also add it to your Favourites for later use. Click to expand the item, then select More details to evaluate the item and check availability before adding it to your list.

5. REMEMBER to set the importance of the item by using the "Tag" option if it's a book that you want the library to purchase.

Add items manually

Create a reference manually

You can also create a reference manually by entering the item’s details—such as the author/creator, title, and publication date. This option is useful for non-standard sources, such as dissertations, news reports, or your own lecture materials.

You have the option to upload the file and complete the copyright declaration. Please refer to the copyright policy before uploading any materials. For items available online - such as government documents or open access articles - please provide a URL to the original source instead of uploading a pdf.

To create a citation manually:

1. Click and then select Manual entry.

2. Enter the title of the reference, select a file type.

3. You can choose to upload the file and make the copyright declaration.

4. You may need to select "More item details" depending on the type.

5. Select the appropriate section and click Add
