NOTE: House of Lords bill number should appear between round brackets. House of Commons numbers should appear between square brackets.

Format of the reference

You will need:

  • Parliament
  • House of Commons or House of Lords 
  • Year of publication, or year the page was last updated
  • Title of the bill
  • Bill number
  • Web address
  • Date accessed

 

Format:

Parliament. House of Commons or Lords (Year of publication) Title of bill. [(Bills number)]. Available from: www.webaddress.com [Accessed day month year].

Example (House of Commons):

Parliament. House of Commons (2013) Food labelling (sugar content). [Bill 23]. Available from: https://services.parliament.uk/bills/2013-14/foodlabellingsugarcontent.html [Accessed 28 January 2021].
